En route to the galley to get a drink, Joe heard her call his name.? He turned towards her cabin. ?The door was slightly ajar and he hesitated as he lifted his hand to knock.? When he heard her call out again, he pushed the door open a couple of inches and stuck his head inside to answer.? His words died on his lips.

Beth lay on the bed with her eyes closed.? She?d pushed her nightgown up above her chest, leaving the rest of her body exposed.? He froze, convinced he?d burst a major blood vessel.?
