(NOTE FROM JESS: A couple of days after I posted this blog, we discovered Mountain Heat has already been used by Samhain. We now have a third, and hopefully final title: WINTER FIRE! I like it. Do you?)
So I’ve been chatting a bit to Heidi Moore, the Samhain editor who is working on the Red Hot Winter Anthology.
It’s all getting very exciting now. Contracts are signed and cover art forms have been subbed.
Only one prob. Heidi wasn’t overly fond of the title of my novella.
*Sigh*
I am completely hopeless at titles. (Altho, I have to say, I quite liked Winter’s Alchemy. It fit the books pretty well.)
Thank God for Lexxie Couper. After spending the entire day thinking up new titles, and coming up with, ah, all of NO NEW IDEAS, Lex stepped up to the plate, and suggested five fab new names.
I am thus proud to announce that from here on, Winter’s Alchemy will be called…
Mountain Heat.
Have I posted the upofficial blurb yet for Mountain Heat?
I’m not sure. So I’m gonna slip it in here. (Just because I can.)
Mountain Heat: The Blurb
Surprises revealed in the dead of winter can heat up even the coldest night
There?s never been any question in Rachel Ashberg?s mind. Jackson Brooks is the one, and they both know it. The problem? Jackson is completely off limits. Much as they want to be together, they can?t.
It?s been over two years since Rachel last saw him. Now they?re about to meet again, at a gorgeous hotel, in the picturesque Blue Mountains near Sydney, in the middle of winter. And Jackson is still off-limits.
Rachel needs something to take the edge off before he arrives, and who better than the sexy stranger, Garreth Halt? He?s gorgeous, he?s keen and he?s going back to Canada in two weeks time. No long term ties there. Just a hot liaison on a cold night. Hot enough to make her forget Jackson for a while.
Or maybe not. When Rachel mentions Jackson?s name in passing, Garreth picks up on all the hidden undertones in her voice. He devises a plan: he?s going to bring Jackson into bed with them.
It may just be a fantasy Garreth and Rachel play out together, but Rachel soon learns that Garreth?s fantasies?even the most unattainable and improbable ones?have a surprising way of becoming reality.
Warning: There?s so much heat burning up the pages you won?t even notice the winter cold. You might fall in love with Jackson?the real-life hero,? determined to protect his sister from further pain?but it?s the handsome stranger, Garreth, who?ll take your breath away.
Mountain Heat releases on the 4th of January, along with Lexxie Couper’s Triple Dare and Delilah Devlin’s True Heart.
Jess
Hmmm, I wonder what else I can get Jess to do by saying I’m not overly fond of something? 🙂
Looking forward to working with you on Mountain Heat!
cheers boet
ARRRRGGGH!
Okay, now I’m scared. Very, very scared.
There’s a Canadian in this novella? I must read it! 🙂
Oh yeah.
Garreth Halt. One very sexy Canadian. (Even if he has an Welsh name.)
😉
Oooh I like the new title. Other title gave me a paranormal vibe (don’t know why!?) and judging from the blurb it’s not. MOUNTAIN HEAT sounds hot!!!!
LOLOL
That’s exactly what Heidi said (as she’s just pointed out in the next comment.)
Yep, Mountain Heat is an erotic, contemporary romance. No paranormal anywhere to be seen! And it is HOT!
Jess
“Other title gave me a paranormal vibe”
See!!
You editor is always right — just saying 🙂
“Your editor is always right.”
Must repeat a hundred times until I believe it.
“Your editor is always right. Your editor is always right. Your editor is always right.”
Okay maybe two hundred times…
LOL
Let’s all just ignore the typo there, ka? 🙂
Snort.
And to think I’ve just been chanting:
Your editor is always right.
